Payment Terms & Project Deposits
At Captain Ed LLC, every project is custom and made specifically for your boat. To keep projects organized, maintain scheduling fairness, and ensure materials are available when work begins, we use the following payment structure.
Our goal is to keep expectations clear and transparent for every customer.
Project Estimates
Most projects begin with a written estimate based on the scope of work discussed.
Estimates are intended to provide a realistic projection of the cost of the project based on the information available at the time. If the estimate is approved, the project can move forward with the required deposit.
Deposit Requirement
A 50% deposit is required to begin all projects.
Materials will not be ordered and the project will not be scheduled until the deposit has been received.
Because many of the materials used in marine canvas and upholstery work are custom ordered or cut specifically for your project, the deposit secures both materials and a place in the production schedule.
Changes to the Original Estimate
Occasionally, additional work may be required that was not visible or known at the time the estimate was prepared.
If any changes or additional costs arise during the project:
There are no surprise charges. Transparency is important.
Final Payment
The remaining balance is due upon completion of the project.
Completed work must be paid in full prior to delivery, pickup, or installation of finished items.
Installation Costs
Installation services are not included in the estimate unless specifically stated on the deposit invoice or written estimate.
If installation is required, it will either be quoted separately or noted clearly as part of the project.
Accepted Payment Methods
We accept the following forms of payment:
Personal checks are accepted for deposits only. Work will begin once deposit funds have cleared.
Questions
If you have any questions about project estimates, deposits, or payment timing, please feel free to ask. Clear communication is important to us, and we’re always happy to explain the process.
Materials Policy
Many materials used in marine canvas and upholstery work are custom ordered, cut, or fabricated specifically for each project. Once work has begun and materials have been cut or altered for a project, they typically cannot be reused or returned.
If a customer chooses to cancel a project after work has begun or after materials have been cut, Captain Ed LLC cannot guarantee the condition, usability, or value of those materials. At that point, materials and partially completed work are considered committed to the project and may not be recoverable or suitable for other use.
For this reason, customers should be certain they wish to proceed before authorizing work to begin.
Ownership of Work
All materials, fabricated items, and completed work remain the property of Captain Ed LLC until the project has been paid for in full.
Final payment is due upon completion notification. Items will not be released, delivered, or installed until the final balance has been received.
Completed Work, Pickup, and Storage
Customers will be notified when their project is complete and ready for pickup or installation.
Due to limited shop space, completed work must be claimed promptly upon completion notification. Items that remain unclaimed 7 days after completion notification will be subject to a storage fee of $25 per day, unless prior arrangements have been made.
If special circumstances arise that prevent timely pickup, customers are encouraged to communicate in advance so alternative arrangements can be made.
Storage fees will continue to accrue until the project is claimed or until the item is considered abandoned under the abandoned property policy below.
If completed work remains unclaimed for 60 days after completion notification, and reasonable attempts to contact the customer have been unsuccessful, Captain Ed LLC reserves the right to dispose of, sell, or otherwise reclaim the materials and completed items in order to recover storage costs, labor, and materials associated with the project.
